Mandisa's God Speaking

American Idol's Mandisa Got Something to be Thankful for!

Yes she did not win the popular reality show and yes she did not go secular like most contestants do and yes she is not as popular as expected but Mandisa has something to be grateful for...she has a grammy nomination.

I first heard Mandisa sing on Tobymac's Lose My Soul and I was impressed. I dont know her that well and her songs are just a blur in my memory but i know one thing and that is this girl is here to stay.

On 1cubed she says:
“Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that my debut cd would garner a Grammy nomination. I have all of the cds nominated in the same category as I, and absolutely love each of them. To be considered in the same crowd is very humbling for me. I know we hear it all the time, but it truly IS an honor just to be nominated.”

I am happy for her and I wish her success in all her enndeavours

Music Video Of The Week: TY Bello's Greenland

Introducing TY Bello...The Face Of Nigerian Gospel Music

You remember TY Bello...the lady from gospel group, KUSH. I used to call her the TBOZ of KUSH 'cause of her voice. Anyways TY Bello is back...let me rephrase that came back with a new gospel album titled 'Greenland' and the album is slammin'

It all began on one sunday, I went to House On The Rock that day and service was over and as i was leaving the building I heard a wonderful song blaring from the speakers(TY Bello attends House On The Rock). Being a music lover, I decide to check out the song and Its TY Bello's Greenland. I was tripped so I bought the album.

What struck me about the album was that it proved to the world that there is till hope for Nigerian Gospel Music. The Nigerian Gospel Music scene has seen a whole lot of lazy artist who claim they are out to spread the gospel when all they do is deliver empty lyrics to a dying world who need to know the real truth.

The album is unbelievable with songs like Freedom, Funmise, Supernatural featuring the talented MOSA, Atoned, The Dance, Ekundayo featuring our very own Olufunmi and the popular Greenland.

I feel you should go get your copy if you haven't believe me you have nothing to lose.

Let me leave you with nthe lyrics to her hit song 'Greenland'

Verse 1

stand in the rain

as the clouds go grey

the thunder roars and the earth sings

the season's just beginning

the sunlight it hides as the clouds make way

for the pouring of my blessings

i will not be afraid

pre-chorus

i see it now / i understand / i knowso i embrace it

dance in the rain it's for my seeds to grow

for every prayer and every seed i've sown

the Lord of the harvest knows

i'm reaping back a hundred fold
chorus

the land is green - it's greenooooh

the land is green - it's greencan't you see?

the harvest is ready‘cuz the Lord of the harvest told me so

it's green - it's green for meit's green - it's green for me

Verse 2

standing alone can be a heavy load

but my vows i won't be breaking

though my heart is aching

i got a word and i won't let go

it's Your will i'm seeking

so i keep on believing

pre-chorus

i see it now / i understand / i know

so i embrace it dance once again it's time for me to grow

for every prayer and every tear i've sown

the Lord of the harvest knows

i'm reaping joy a hundred fold

chorus

bridge

i thought it was over

thought You were done with me

but we're just beginning oh my life is a journey

i will walk with You

i will go where You want me to yes i will go
chorus 2

the land is green - it's greenooooh

the land is green - it's greencan't you see?repeat 3 xs

The Man of 2007: Toby McKeehan AKA Tobymac

TobyMac, is a professional musician, producer, and songwriter. He was more known for being one of the founders of the Christian music group dc Talk staying with them from 1989 until their announced hiatus in 2000. He has since continued a successful solo career with the release of three studio albums; Momentum (2001), Welcome to Diverse City (2004), and most recently Portable Sounds (2007). He has also released remixed versions of his first two albums, creatively titled Re:Mix Momentum, and Renovating Diverse City. He has currently released a new "holiday treo" and it is available for downloading directly from iTunes at the click of this link: http://www.fan2band.com/dynamiclink/85099_705_2_1811

I first heard tobymac's song when I went for my first Soul Quest (YWAP'S Dance Team) rehearsal and we were working on one of his songs "Burn For You" from the Welcome To Diverse City album. At first, I wasn't feeling the song but sooner the song got to me (I had known Tobymac from DC Talk and through Out of Eden).

Soon I started listening to his music little by little not until I heard Portable Sound sand i'm like this dude is off da chain! Currently, he is my favourite male artist and the gospel act of 2007. I feel he is gon rock 2008 for real. Let me leave you with the lyrics to my best song from him.

Lose My Soul

Tobymac ft Kirk Franklin and Mandisa

{Kirk}

"Man I wanna tell ya'll something man"
"Man I'm not gonna let these material things get in my way ya'll"
"I'm trying to get somewhere"
"I'm trying to get somewhere that's real and pure and true and eternal"
"Toby can you go with your boy?"
"Let's go"

{Tobymac}

Father God, I am clay in your hands
Help me to stay that way through all life’s demands
‘Cause they chip and they nag and they pull at me
And every little thing I make up my mind to be
Like I’m gonna be a daddy whose in the mix
And I’m gonna be a husband who stays legit
And I pray that I’m an artist who rises above
the road that is wide and filled with self love
Everything that I see draws me
Though it’s only in You that I can truly see
that its a feast for the eyes - a low blow to purpose
And I’m a little kid at a three ring circus
I don’t want to gain the whole world and lose my soul
Don’t wanna walk away let me hear the people say
(I like that there)

(Chorus)

I don't want to gain the whole world and lose my soul
Don't wanna walk away let me hear the people say
"Mr. Franklin, step up to the mic sir."
"Check it out."

{Kirk}

The paparazzi flashes and that they think that it’s you
But they don't know that who you are is not what you do
True, we get it twisted when we peak at the charts
Yo before we part from the start where’s your heart?
You a pimp, hustler?
Tell me what’s your title
America has no more stars now we call them idols
You sit idle
While we teach prosperity
The first thing to prosper should be inside of me
We’re free!
Not because of 22’s on the range
But Christ came in range we said yes now we changed
Not the same even though I made a fall
Since I got that call no more Saul now I’m Paul
"Yup"

(Chorus)

I don’t want to gain the whole world and lose my soul
Don’t wanna walk away (I like this!) let me hear the people say
I don't want to gain the whole world and lose my soul
Don't wanna walk away let me hear the people say
Don't wanna walk away, walk away, walk away
"Mandisa come on!"

{Mandisa}

How do I sense the tide that’s rising?
De-sensitizing me from living in light of eternity, eternity
(Watch me now)
How do I sense the tide that’s rising?
(The tide is rising ya'll)
It’s hypnotizing me from living in light of eternity, tell me
How do I sense the tide that’s rising?
De-sensitizing me (It's makin' me drown) from living in light
Livin' in light of eternity

{Tobymac}

Lord what we gonna do?
We're relyin' on you
All eyes are on you Lord
All eyes are on you
All eyes are on you Jesus
I don't wanna gain the whole world and loose my soul
Light a candle ya'll!
Lift it high ya'll, come on!

{Chorus}

I don't wanna gain the whole world and loose my soul
"No prophit in gainin' the whole word and loose your soul, Yes sir"
I don't wanna gain the whole world and loose my soul
"Every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess"
This is my honesty, father won't you cover me.
"Come on!"
I don't wanna gain the whole world and loose my soul
"Lift 'em up ya'll, left'em up!"
Don't wanna walk away, and all His people say
I don't wanna gain the whole world, and loose my soul
No I, don't wanna loose, I don't wanna loose my soul.
"Come on!"

{Tobymac}

Lord forgive us when we get consumed
By the things of this world that fight for our love
(Yes Lord) and our passion (Yes Lord)
As our eyes are open wide and on you (Talk to 'em)
Grant us the privelage of your world view
And my your kingdom be
What wakes us up, and lays us down
Hallelujah, hallelujah
(No, don't let me loose my soul)

Now thats what you call a song.

LISA KIMMEY IS A WINANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Out of Eden. Even though they've retired I imagine them reuiniting over and over again. I listen to their records like every single blessed day and I love Lisa Kimmey...the lead singer, writer and producer.

I was browsing...casually...just foolong around till...I saw on a blog that Lisa got married to Juan Winans...from Winans Phase II (he is also the son of Marvin winans). Right now, I am happy for her...I can't wait for her to do something major. I need to see her and also Danielle and Andrea do something major. I am so happy for Lisa...

Here's the best song she has ever written...through God's Inspiration of course

Out of Eden
Have Mercy
Written by Lisa Kimmey

Forgive me Lord,
for I have sinned
I have strayed from your ways,
I need to begin again
My ways have let me down
Won't you please trun my life around
I can't make it on my own
I will do what you say,
Lord have your way
And hear my prayer this day

I need you, Lord
please hear my cry
Take this heart as your own and make it clean inside
Wash me in your precious blood
Wrap me in your open arm of love
So I know you've not given up
I will do what you say,
Lord have your way
And hear my prayer this day

(Chorus) Oh, have mercy, oh, have mercy
Lord, I need you,
I am not giving up
I'm not letting go,
not even getting off of my knees 'Til I hear a word from you

Be near me Lord
I've turned from my wrongs
I am following you, won't you speak, help me carry on
For just one word from you
Gives me the strength to make it through
Don't leave me here on my own

(Chorus 2x)

I need a word from you,
so won't you speak to my soul
Tell me how to live and tell me which way to go
I put my trust in you,
I will stay in your word
You gave it to me so I can walk right
I promise to do what I've heard
So speak to my heart, Lord, give me your Holy Word
If I can't hear from you,
I don't know what to do
If I should fall, if I should stray,
I promise I won't wait
To get down on my knees and beg you please

(Chorus 2x)

I love you Lord, you're so beautiful
You've forgiven my sins and I want to honor you
So, Lord, please take your place, as my master, Lord,
I'll seek your face
I will not leave your side
I will do what you say,
Lord, have your way (x3)
And hear my prayer this day

Dont you just love the song already. Can't wait for her solo album!

Back To School: Update on my life

Ever since I was a child, the statement has alweys been used when a student has to return to his academic institution. I'm no different cause as at 4.30pm yesterday, I made my way back into Covenant University.

I dont know how I feel right now. I should be happy but i'm not. I should want to go home but I dont. It's all very confusing but what can I do. Exams start on the 14th and I am far from ready. All I need now is God's favor and grace.

Right now, I am writing a book. It's in my Friends Forever Series and is my first book in the series. It is titled "A Touch From Heaven". It's about a gay Nigerian teenager and his promiscious best friend and how God brings healing to a wounded soul. It was inspired by Kemi's Journal and Pastor Paul Adefarasin's christmas message. I am hoping it gets published by Tyndale, Thomas Nelson, Multonomah or Zondervan. I'm dreaming right? Well that is what i want.

I'm currently reading Pastor Paul's book "Change Your World: A Call To A Performing Generation". The book is tight and i'm learning a whole lot from it. Tobymac's Portable Sounds and Welcome To Diverse City are the two music albums on my playlist...oh I forgot TY Bello's Greenland. I've not really seen any new movies lately and Juanita Bynum and my spiritual life has been top on my prayer list.

Well 2008 had better be a good year. all this plans I have and all the pain that came with last year. I hope and pray that my delivarance and healing will come with this year. I am tired of the way my life is and I want to finally understand why God has let all these things happen..

Well, I've got so much to say but so little time...But...I'll be right back!

Trotcha!

The Prophetess Juanita Bynum and Bishop Weeks The Third Controversy

Juanita Bynum. Where do I start from. From the fact that she has blessed me or that I feel contrary to popular belief I feel she is a real Woman of God. I love her.

Recently, Bynum and Bishop Weeks III separated in June 2007. In the early morning of August 21, 2007, the two met at the Rennaisance hotel in Atlanta, Georgia in an attempt to reconcile. But the meeting soured and Weeks stormed out of the hotel. Bynum followed him. Weeks proceeded to choke, slam to the ground, stomp, and kick Bynum, threatening to kill her, until a hotel bellman pulled Weeks off of her. Weeks fled the scene and law authorities considered him a fugitive for two days before he turned himself in (on August 23, 2007). He has been charged for the incident.

It is reported that Weeks left the scene of the attack, according to police. Warrants had been issued for Weeks, who has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of terrorist threats against Bynum. According to a lawyer for Weeks, the Bishop plans to continue his ministry and to try to reconcile with his wife after the allegations are dealt with, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports."He is extremely sad over the events that have taken place," said Edward Garland, one of the two attorneys representing Weeks. "I think there is hope on his part that the relationship can get past these difficult moments." Bynum, who is said to be with family members, released this statement on Thursday:“I am currently recovering from all of my injuries and resting well. There are so many great things happening for me in my future and so much to look foward to concerning my destiny. This too shall pass. The Bible says in Proverbs 4:25: 'Let your eyes look right on with fixed purpose and let your gaze be straight before you.' Thank you for your concern and please continue to pray for my recovery!"

After, this incident Juanita appeared on TBN after a while( I dont know when exactly) and she said she forgave her husband. She said so many things that I became convinced that she still has the anointing of God upon her life. She has blessed me and I'll keep praying for her.

KEMI'S JOURNAL: The Best Book of 2007

Last Month, I went to Mazi Bookstores in Yaba and I saw the book, Kemi's Journal. At first, I was like puh-lease, this is just another British Nigerian Chiamanda wanna-be. I go to the Palms in Lekki and I see the book again, this time I read the back and i'm like it might not be a bad book afterall. Then on Christmas Day, I go to the Silverbird Galleria to watch a movie, fortunately or unfortunately for me, the movie I wanted to see "This Christmas" Starring Chris Brown, Regina King, Loretta Devine et al was not showing till 7.00 pm so I decided to go to the Media Stores and there i bought the book along with the sequel "Zack's Story"

First, Abidemi Sanusi is the best xtian author out there now. She can compete with the likes of Karen Kingsbury and Francine Rivers. She is a wonderful and blessed author.

Second, EVERY growing xtian would be able to relate to this book. It is amazing.

Third, it is the best book of 2007 to me. I love it and i would soon be true with the sequel which i'm enjoying too.

Kudos to Abidemi Sanusi. Well Done!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

What else can I do than to give God praise for a new year. Last year had its challenges but in the end the will of God prevails. I am just extremely grateful that my family and I have made it to this new year. To anyone reading this now, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
